Brain Age Calculator

Answer 12 quick questions to discover your brain's cognitive age. This free assessment measures your performance across four cognitive domains: pattern recognition, logical reasoning, problem solving, and verbal reasoning. It calculates how old your brain really is.

What Is Brain Age?

Brain age is a way of expressing cognitive performance as an age equivalent. A 25-year-old with a brain age of 20 has cognitive abilities (reaction speed, memory recall, pattern recognition) that outperform the average for their age group. Conversely, a brain age higher than your actual age may suggest areas where cognitive training could help.

The concept draws from standardized cognitive testing, where performance is normed against age groups to produce meaningful comparisons.

How the Brain Age Calculator Works

This calculator presents 12 questions drawn from four cognitive domains. Each question measures both accuracy (did you get it right?) and response speed (how quickly did you answer?). Your combined performance is mapped to an age equivalent using a sigmoid curve calibrated against cognitive aging data.

The four cognitive domains tested are:

  • Logical Reasoning: deductive and inductive logic problems
  • Pattern Recognition: visual pattern identification and sequence completion
  • Problem Solving: mathematical and spatial reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning: language-based analytical thinking

Brain Age vs. IQ Score

Brain age and IQ scores both measure cognitive ability, but they express results differently. An IQ score is a standardized number with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. Brain age, on the other hand, translates performance into an intuitive age comparison, making it easier to understand at a glance.
