IQ Test Questions & Answers
Find answers about our assessment, certificates, billing, privacy, accessibility, and more. Not a clinical tool; results are designed for career and educational guidance.
Ready to discover your IQ score? Both tests are free.
Take the full assessment or start with a quick test. No payment required.
IQ Career Lab offers professional, browser-based IQ and Personality assessments with printable certificates, paired with career insights that help candidates showcase demonstrated potential to employers.
Who is this for?
Job seekers, students, and professionals who want a structured way to show ability, understand strengths, and explore roles aligned with their profile.
What do the tests measure?
The IQ test measures problem solving under time, pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, and verbal logic. The Personality Assessment measures your Big Five (OCEAN) personality traits — Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism — to reveal how you work and interact with others. Neither test is a clinical assessment.
Is this a clinical or diagnostic tool?
No. Results are for informational and career purposes and are not medical or clinical advice. They should not be used for clinical decision‑making.
How long are results relevant?
Cognitive ability is relatively stable in adults. Your report does not expire, but we may update norms and reporting over time to reflect a larger dataset.
How can I use my results?
Attach the certificate to applications, add highlights to resumes, and reference strengths during interviews. Some employers may request the printable PDF.
What’s the difference between the free quick test and the full test?
Both tests are completely free. The quick test gives an indicative snapshot with fewer questions. The full test provides an exact IQ score and domain breakdown. After either test, you can optionally subscribe for unlimited access or purchase individual add-ons like a detailed analysis, printable certificate, or career matches.
What devices are supported?
Modern desktop and mobile browsers are supported. For the best experience, we recommend a laptop or desktop screen and a stable internet connection.
Is the assessment evidence‑informed?
We follow established psychometric practices and iteratively refine items and scoring with ongoing analysis. We do not claim clinical validation.
How accurate is this IQ test?
Our test measures cognitive ability across five domains: fluid reasoning, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, working memory, and executive function. It uses 50 questions calibrated against established psychometric research. While no online test replaces a clinical assessment administered by a psychologist, our scoring algorithm uses normative data and item response theory to provide a reliable estimate of general cognitive ability.
How does this compare to a clinical IQ test?
Clinical tests like the WAIS-V or Stanford-Binet are administered one-on-one by a licensed psychologist and include subtests that cannot be replicated online (e.g., block design, working memory tasks with physical materials). Our test covers the domains that can be reliably measured online — fluid reasoning, pattern recognition, quantitative reasoning, and verbal analysis. Think of it as a strong estimate rather than a clinical diagnosis.
About 50 questions. Most people finish in about 45 minutes.
Is the test timed?
Yes, sections are time‑bounded to measure performance under reasonable time pressure.
Can I pause and resume?
For score integrity, pausing is limited. We recommend completing in one sitting on a stable connection.
Can I retake the test?
You can retake after a cooling period. We recommend spacing attempts to avoid practice effects and to maintain result quality.
Which browsers work best?
Latest Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox. Please update to the most recent version and allow cookies/local storage.
Can I use my phone?
Yes, but a laptop or desktop is recommended for readability and precision.
What if my internet drops?
Brief disruptions usually recover; prolonged outages can invalidate timing. If that happens, contact support with details.
Are accommodations available?
We aim to support accessibility features like keyboard navigation and screen readers. For specific accommodations, reach out to support before testing.
Are there anti‑cheating measures?
We discourage external aids and monitor response patterns. Results intended for employers should reflect unaided performance.
After completing any test, you can purchase the certificate add-on ($12.99) to download a printable, verifiable certificate. Your IQ score is always included for free.
What does the certificate include?
Your name, date, exact score, percentile, and verification details. It’s optimized for printing and sharing as PDF.
Can employers verify my certificate?
Yes. Every certificate is cryptographically signed. Anyone can verify it two ways: scan the QR code (or open the verification URL) to look up the live record, or upload the certificate PDF to the verification page, which checks the signature against our published public key. The certificate is signed by Bryan, our scoring and validation lead, so it stands on its own when you attach it to a job application. We never share your data without your consent.
Is the certificate branded?
Yes. It includes IQ Career Lab branding and summary metrics aligned with your report.
Does the certificate expire?
No expiry, though we may enhance design or fields over time as our platform evolves.
How should I share it?
Attach the PDF to applications or link to it in a portfolio. Keep your file secure and share selectively.
Can I change the name on my certificate?
Yes, ensure your account profile matches your legal or preferred name before downloading.
What’s in the Score Analysis Report?
The Score Analysis Report ($9.99) includes your exact score, percentile, domain-level strengths, and personalized improvement tips. Career-matched roles are available separately through the Career Matches add-on.
Yes. The 50-question IQ test and your IQ score are completely free. No credit card required. You only pay if you choose a subscription or individual add-ons.
What’s the difference between a subscription and per-test add-ons?
A subscription ($9.99/mo or $99.00/yr) gives you unlimited tests with all reports, certificates, and career matches included automatically. Per-test add-ons let you purchase individual reports for a specific test result. Choose a subscription if you plan to test regularly; choose add-ons for a one-time deep dive.
What reports can I unlock from my account?
Beyond per-test add-ons, your account unlocks in-depth reports built from your results — each one becomes available as soon as you have the test data it reads. Some build on more than a single result: Cognitive Progress tracks how your profile shifts across attempts, so it unlocks once you have at least three IQ results, while Career DNA and Career Compass blend your IQ with your Big Five personality, so they unlock once you have both an IQ result and a personality result. The Strategic Thinking Profile (decision-making and leadership archetypes) and the Academic / Admissions Report (transparent scoring for academic and scholarship use) work from a single IQ result. A locked report tells you exactly how many results you still need and links straight to the test that unlocks it. An active subscription auto-unlocks every report your results allow, including the $49 Academic / Admissions Report, or you can buy them individually from your account's Reports & Add-ons page. See the pricing page for current prices.
What’s included in a subscription?
Unlimited IQ and Personality tests, and every report auto-unlocked as your results allow — Score Analysis, Verifiable Certificates, Career Matches, Strategic Thinking Profile, the Academic / Admissions Report, Personality Profile, Workplace Fit, Career DNA, Career Compass, and Cognitive Progress. It also includes free, on-demand regeneration: one free Career Matches refresh per day, and free regeneration of any report whenever its inputs change. One all-access plan, no tiers. Everything stays available while your subscription is active, and snapshots you've generated remain yours after it ends.
What happens when my subscription ends?
Reports, certificates, and career matches generated during your subscription remain accessible forever, and you keep every snapshot you generated; you simply lose free on-demand regeneration and automatic unlocks for new tests. You can always restart your subscription or purchase individual add-ons.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, cancel anytime from your account settings. You’ll keep full access through the end of your billing period. No partial refunds, no cancellation fees.
Can I gift a subscription?
Yes! Purchase a 1-month or 1-year subscription gift code. The recipient doesn’t need to enter billing information — they just redeem the code and enjoy full access. Auto-renewal is off by default; they can enable it later if they want to continue. Lifetime access is available only as a private gift redemption and is never sold publicly.
Can I refresh or regenerate a report?
Reports are saved snapshots, not live dashboards — they never change on their own. When you want a fresh version you click "Regenerate," which re-runs the full generation against your current data. If you take a new test or retake one, your account shows a "new results available" prompt so you can regenerate the affected reports. Career Matches can also be refreshed for new listings. Pricing: Career Matches regeneration is $19.99 each, and subscribers get one free per day. For every other report, regeneration is free for subscribers whenever the inputs change, and a re-purchase at the report's price for non-subscribers. Every previous version stays viewable in your account.
Do my reports update automatically over time?
No. Every report is a stored snapshot of your data at generation time. Nothing updates silently. You stay in control: regenerate explicitly when you want a refresh, and your account keeps a full history of prior versions. If you cancel a subscription, you keep every snapshot you've already generated — you only lose the free-regeneration perk.
What add-ons are available?
Score Analysis ($9.99) gives you a cognitive domain breakdown with percentile rankings. The Verifiable Certificate ($12.99) is a PDF with a unique verification URL. Career Matches ($19.99) recommends roles with salary data. The IQ Bundle ($32.99) includes all three and saves about 23%.
Will schools, universities, or scholarship programs accept the Academic / Admissions Report?
The Academic / Admissions Report is a rigorous, formally documented cognitive assessment you can submit with scholarship applications, high-IQ society memberships, gifted-program portfolios, and your personal academic record. Acceptance varies by institution and program — each sets its own requirements, and we cannot promise any specific school or university will accept it. We provide it as a credible personal credential and submission document, with transparent scoring, norms, methodology, and signed verification, so you can present it with confidence. It is not a guaranteed admissions credential.
How much does IQ Career Lab cost?
The IQ test is completely free — no credit card required. For unlimited access, subscribe at $9.99/mo or $99.00/yr. Or purchase individual add-ons: Score Analysis ($9.99), Verifiable IQ Certificate ($12.99), Career Matches ($19.99), or the IQ Bundle ($32.99).

How do gift codes work?
Gift codes let you purchase add-ons or subscriptions for someone else. Buy a gift code, share the code with the recipient, and they can redeem it after completing a test. The recipient doesn’t need to enter billing information.
How do I redeem a gift code?
After completing a test, go to your results page and look for the option to redeem a gift code. Enter the code to unlock the corresponding add-on or subscription instantly.
You can start a quick test without an account. The full IQ test requires sign‑in to save your progress and results. Both tests are free.

Career Matches ($19.99) analyzes your cognitive domain scores and overall result against curated role profiles to surface careers where your strengths are most valued. It uses professional matching methodology to pair your cognitive profile with suitable roles.
Where do suggestions come from?
We use curated role profiles and labor‑market knowledge. Suggestions are guidance, not guarantees.
How often are matches updated?
Your matches are a saved snapshot. To pull fresh listings you click Regenerate, which re-runs the match against the current market and dedups against jobs you've already seen. Non-subscribers pay $19.99 per refresh (the Career Matches regeneration price); subscribers get one free refresh per day, then the regeneration price. Older match sets stay viewable in your account, and we periodically update our role mappings as our dataset grows.
What are the limitations?
Matching is directional. Experience, location, and interests also matter. Use it to refine—not replace—your search.
How do I use matches in applications?
Reference strengths in cover letters and emphasize problem‑solving outcomes on resumes.
Any tips for networking with my results?
Share your certificate when relevant, and talk about domain strengths tied to real projects and outcomes.
Which industries value this most?
Roles with analytical, technical, or operations focus tend to value demonstrated problem‑solving.
How can I mention my score appropriately?
Keep it brief, include your percentile if helpful, and pair it with concrete achievements.
Can this help with internal promotions?
Yes. Many teams welcome standardized evidence of capability alongside performance reviews.
It's a free 50-question assessment based on the Big Five (OCEAN) personality model. You rate statements about your typical behavior and preferences, and we calculate your scores across five personality dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Your results include a personality archetype label and optional paid reports.
How is the Personality Test different from the IQ Test?
The IQ test measures how you think — cognitive ability, problem solving, pattern recognition, and reasoning speed. The Personality Assessment measures how you work — your behavioral tendencies, communication style, work preferences, and interpersonal patterns. Together, they provide a complete picture of your professional potential.
Why do you use the Big Five model?
The Big Five (OCEAN) model is the most scientifically validated personality framework in psychology. Our items are drawn from the International Personality Item Pool (IPIP), which is public domain and extensively researched. The Big Five maps directly to O*NET occupational data, enabling evidence-based career matching.
What is Career DNA?
Career DNA is the only career report that combines your IQ cognitive profile with your Big Five personality traits. It provides holistic career recommendations that account for both how you think and how you work, giving you more accurate and personalized guidance than either test alone. Career DNA tells you who you are. Career Compass tells you where to go next.
How long does the Personality Test take?
Most people finish in about 15 minutes. The assessment consists of 50 statements that you rate on a scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. There are no right or wrong answers and no time limit.
Can I retake the Personality Test?
Yes. Each result is independent — your previous results are preserved and remain accessible. Personality traits can shift over time, so retaking periodically can reveal meaningful changes in your profile.
How is the Personality Test scored?
Your responses are scored across the five OCEAN domains (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism). Some items are reverse-scored for accuracy. Your raw scores are converted to percentiles based on normative data, and a personality archetype label is assigned based on your unique trait combination.
What are the personality archetype labels?
Archetype labels like 'The Strategic Architect' or 'The Empathic Innovator' are descriptive titles assigned based on your unique combination of Big Five trait scores. They provide an intuitive summary of your personality profile and are featured on your certificate and reports.
What personality reports are available?
After completing the Personality Assessment, you can purchase: Personality Profile ($9.99) for a facet-level deep dive into your traits and behavior, Workplace Fit ($14.99) for the conditions, teams, and cultures you work best in, the Verifiable Personality Certificate ($12.99) featuring your archetype and OCEAN scores, or the Personality Bundle ($29.99) which includes all three. Career DNA ($19.99) combines your IQ and personality and is sold from your account, separately from the Personality Bundle.
Is there a personality certificate?
Yes. The Verifiable Personality Certificate follows the same cryptographically signed format as the IQ Certificate. It includes your archetype label, OCEAN dimension scores, and test date, and it can be verified two ways: scan the QR code (or open the verification URL) for a live lookup, or upload the certificate PDF to the verification page, which checks the signature against our published public key.
How much does the Personality Test cost?
The Personality Assessment is completely free to take — no credit card required. Your personality archetype and basic trait overview are included at no charge. Optional paid reports start at $9.99 for deeper insights, career matching, and a verifiable certificate.
How does personality-based career matching work?
We map your Big Five personality scores to O*NET occupational profiles to identify roles where your natural personality traits align with workplace demands. For example, high Conscientiousness and low Neuroticism correlate strongly with success in detail-oriented analytical roles. Career DNA goes further by combining this with your cognitive ability scores for even more precise matching.
Contact support for cohort or volume options. We can discuss reporting needs and timelines.
Can we verify a candidate’s certificate?
Yes. Every IQ Career Lab certificate carries a QR code and verification URL; you can also upload the candidate's certificate PDF to the verification page, which checks its cryptographic signature against our published public key. The verification page shows a live snapshot of the issued result. We do not disclose anything beyond what the candidate has chosen to share.
