These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the IQ Career Lab website, assessments, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Summary (non-binding)
- Not a clinical or medical service. Results are for informational and career purposes only.
- Tests are free. Paid features include optional one-time add-on reports and certificates for both IQ and Personality assessments purchased per test result, as well as optional subscription plans that provide unlimited access to all add-ons.
- We may update these Terms. We will prompt you to accept updated terms before purchases or full tests. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
- Data is handled per our Privacy Policy (/privacy). We do not sell personal data.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
- We may require a verified email address to access paid features.
3. Purchases and Add-On Reports
3a. Free Tests
IQ assessments on the Service are free to take. You receive a basic score upon completion at no charge. No payment is required to start or complete a test.
3b. Paid Add-Ons
After completing a test, you may purchase optional add-on reports and certificates for that specific test result. The currently available add-ons are:
IQ Assessment Add-Ons
- Score Analysis Report: a detailed breakdown of your cognitive strengths and areas for growth.
- Verifiable IQ Certificate: an official certificate with a unique verification URL and QR code.
- Career Matches: real jobs that fit your cognitive profile, with the path to land them.
- Strategic Thinking Profile: how you think and decide under pressure, grounded in your answer behavior.
- Academic / Admissions Report: a rigorous, formal cognitive assessment documenting your readiness, formatted for scholarship applications, high-IQ societies, and your personal academic record. Acceptance varies by institution (see Section 4).
- IQ Bundle: Score Analysis, Verifiable IQ Certificate, and Career Matches, bundled at a discounted price.
Personality Assessment Add-Ons
- Personality Profile: an in-depth look at your Big Five personality traits and behavioral tendencies.
- Workplace Fit: personalized career and work-environment recommendations based on your personality profile.
- Verifiable Personality Certificate: a verifiable certificate featuring your personality archetype and OCEAN scores.
- Personality Bundle: Personality Profile, Workplace Fit, and the Verifiable Personality Certificate, bundled at a discounted price.
Cross-Test Add-Ons
- Career DNA: the career report that combines your cognitive ability (IQ) and personality profile for holistic career matching.
- Career Compass: a forward-looking trajectory and plan combining your IQ and personality. Career DNA tells you who you are. Career Compass tells you where to go next.
Account-Level Reports
In addition to the per-test add-ons above, certain reports are account-level: they are anchored to your IQ result(s) but are purchased from, and surfaced in, your account's Reports & Add-ons catalog rather than against a single test result. Account-level reports may be purchased individually or are included with an active subscription, and they are digital goods subject to the same immediate-delivery and refund terms as other add-ons (Sections 3g and 4a). Because these reports are generated from your own results, some require more than one test result before they can be produced:
- Cognitive Progress: an account-level report that charts how your cognitive profile changes across attempts. It requires at least three (3) completed IQ results before it can be generated.
- Career Compass: an account-level report that combines your cognitive results with your Big Five personality profile. It requires at least one (1) completed IQ result and at least one (1) completed Personality result.
Reports that are generated from a single IQ result (for example, the Strategic Thinking Profile and the Academic / Admissions Report) are offered as per-test add-ons under Section 3b and are scoped per the terms of Section 3d.
Prices, taxes, and applicable discounts are displayed at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. Prices may change at any time; existing purchases are honored at the price paid.
3c. Subscription Plans
In addition to per-test add-on purchases, we offer optional subscription plans that provide unlimited access to all add-ons for the duration of your subscription.
- Plans available: We offer monthly and annual subscription plans. A subscription provides unlimited access to all tests (IQ and Personality assessments) and auto-unlocks every report your results allow — Score Analysis, Verifiable IQ Certificates, Career Matches, the Strategic Thinking Profile, the Academic / Admissions Report, Personality Profile, Workplace Fit, Verifiable Personality Certificates, Career DNA, Career Compass, and Cognitive Progress — for every test you complete during your active subscription period. It also includes free, on-demand regeneration of these reports as described below.
- Billing: Subscriptions are billed at the start of each billing period. Monthly subscriptions are billed once per month; annual subscriptions are billed once per year. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. You will be charged at the then-current subscription price upon renewal. Gift subscriptions do not auto-renew by default (see Section 3c(vi)).
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by contacting support@iqcareerlab.com. Upon cancellation, you retain access to all subscription features through the end of your current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial billing periods.
- Subscription entitlements and regeneration: Reports are stored snapshots; they do not update automatically. Regeneration is always an explicit, user-initiated action. During an active subscription, regeneration is free and on-demand: one free Career Matches refresh per day, and free regeneration of any report whenever its underlying inputs change (for example, a new or retaken test result). Non-subscribers may regenerate by re-purchasing at the report's price (Career Matches refreshes are charged at the Career Matches regeneration price). Every prior version remains viewable in your account. Reports, certificates, and career matches generated during your active subscription period remain permanently accessible after your subscription ends (subject to Section 4c); upon cancellation you keep every generated snapshot and lose only the free-regeneration perk. New tests completed after your subscription expires will not auto-unlock add-on features unless purchased individually or a new subscription is started.
- Fair use of unlimited access: "Unlimited" access is intended for ordinary personal use by a single account holder and is subject to fair use. It does not permit automated, scripted, or bulk generation of reports; sharing, renting, or reselling account access; or usage that is excessive relative to normal individual use or that places an unreasonable load on the Service. Where usage indicates automation, abuse, or circumvention of these Terms, we may apply reasonable rate limits, temporarily throttle regeneration, or — for clear or repeated abuse — suspend the account (see Sections 5 and 12). We will not use these measures to restrict genuine personal use.
- Gift subscriptions: Gift subscriptions provide the same benefits as direct subscriptions for a fixed period (1 month or 1 year). Recipients are not required to provide billing information. Gift subscriptions do not auto-renew unless the recipient opts in and provides payment information after redeeming the gift.
- Price changes: We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' advance notice sent to the email address on your account. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing period; you may cancel before the new price takes effect.
- Per-test add-ons alongside subscriptions: Per-test add-ons remain available for users who prefer to pay for individual reports rather than subscribing. Add-on purchases are separate from and independent of subscriptions. If you have an active subscription, you do not need to purchase individual add-ons; your subscription covers all add-on features.
3d. Per-Test-Result Scoping
Per-test add-on purchases (those described in Section 3b, excluding the Account-Level Reports) are tied to a specific test result, not your account as a whole. If you take multiple tests, each test result has its own set of available add-ons. Purchases for one test result do not grant access to reports for a different test result. This scoping does not apply to (i) subscription entitlements, which cover all test results completed during the active subscription period, or (ii) Account-Level Reports, which are anchored to your account and your eligible test results rather than to a single test result, and which may require multiple results to generate as described under "Account-Level Reports" in Section 3b.
3e. Bundle Pro-Rating
If you purchase the Complete Bundle after already buying individual add-ons for the same test result, the bundle price is reduced by the value of add-ons you already own for that test result. You will not be charged twice for the same entitlement.
3f. Gift Codes
You may purchase gift codes that allow a recipient to unlock add-ons for their test results. Gift codes are one-time use and are tied to a single test result upon redemption (except lifetime codes, see below).
- Purchase: Gift codes are purchased through the Service at the prices displayed at checkout. Upon purchase, a unique code is generated and provided to the purchaser via email and the confirmation page. The purchaser is responsible for sharing the code with the intended recipient.
- Redemption: To redeem a gift code, the recipient must have an IQ Career Lab account and a completed test result. The code grants the specified add-on entitlements to the chosen test result. Once redeemed, a gift code cannot be transferred, re-used, or applied to a different test result. Gift codes are intended for the named recipient; the purchaser cannot self-redeem a gift code on their own account.
- Lifetime codes: Certain promotional gift codes may grant lifetime access to all add-ons for all current and future test results on the recipient's account. Lifetime codes are redeemed once and apply automatically. "Lifetime" means the commercial lifetime of the Service (i.e., for as long as IQ Career Lab continues to operate the Service), not the natural lifetime of any individual. Lifetime access covers the features and add-ons available at the time of purchase; if any covered feature is materially changed or deprecated, we will provide equivalent or replacement functionality where commercially reasonable. Lifetime access is personal and non-transferable.
- Expiry: Gift codes do not expire. In accordance with applicable US gift card laws (including California Civil Code §1749.5 and New York General Business Law §396-i), unredeemed gift codes remain valid indefinitely. Lifetime codes likewise do not expire.
- No cash value: Gift codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for currency or credit.
- No resale or transfer: Gift codes are non-transferable and may not be resold, auctioned, bartered, or distributed through secondary markets or unauthorized channels. Any gift code obtained through unauthorized resale is void and may be revoked without refund.
- Refunds for gift code purchases: If the purchaser receives a refund for a gift code purchase, the associated gift code is revoked. If the code has already been redeemed, all entitlements granted by that code are revoked.
- Chargebacks: Filing a chargeback for a gift code purchase constitutes a request for refund. The associated gift code and all entitlements it granted will be immediately revoked. Repeated chargebacks may result in account suspension.
- Recipient information: The purchaser is responsible for providing an accurate recipient email address. IQ Career Lab is not liable for gift codes delivered to an incorrect address due to purchaser error.
- Entitlements parity: Add-on entitlements granted via a gift code are subject to the same terms, limitations, and conditions as entitlements purchased directly (see Sections 4a–4c).
- Account deletion: Lifetime gift codes are permanently consumed upon account deletion. If you delete your account after redeeming a lifetime code, the code cannot be recovered, re-used, transferred, or reassigned to another account. No refund or replacement will be issued for lifetime codes lost due to account deletion. You will be warned of this before confirming deletion.
- Abuse: We reserve the right to revoke gift codes obtained through fraud, unauthorized means, or in violation of these Terms.
3g. Refund Policy
Per-Test Add-On Refunds
All add-on purchases are one-time purchases of digital goods. You have a fourteen (14) day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU). However, by purchasing an add-on and consenting to immediate delivery, you acknowledge that you waive your right of withdrawal once the digital content has been generated and delivered (see Section 4a). After the withdrawal period has passed or delivery has been consented to, purchases are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
- Bundle refunds: If you receive a refund for the Complete Bundle, all entitlements granted by that purchase are revoked.
- Individual add-on refunds: If you receive a refund for an individual add-on, only that specific entitlement is revoked.
Subscription Refunds
Subscriptions may be refunded within forty-eight (48) hours of the initial purchase or renewal, provided that no add-on content (reports, certificates, or career matches) has been generated during the current billing period. Once any report, certificate, or career match has been generated during the billing period, the subscription payment for that period is non-refundable. A subscription is likewise non-refundable where access ends because you declined to accept updated Terms (see Section 14). EU/EEA consumers retain the 14-day withdrawal right under Directive 2011/83/EU, subject to the same immediate-delivery waiver described above.
General
- Technical failures: If a verified technical failure prevents report generation or corrupts results, we will regenerate the affected report or issue a refund at no additional charge. Contact support@iqcareerlab.com within seven (7) days of the incident.
All purchases are final except as expressly stated in this section.
- We may offer promotion codes subject to separate terms; misuse may result in revocation.
4. Test Experience and Results
- The IQ assessment estimates cognitive performance under reasonable time constraints. It is not a clinical diagnostic and should not be used for medical decisions.
- The Personality Assessment measures personality traits using the Big Five (OCEAN) model derived from the International Personality Item Pool (IPIP). It is a self-report assessment and is not a clinical personality evaluation. Results are for informational and career-guidance purposes only.
- We may update norms, scoring, and reporting as our dataset grows.
- We implement measures to preserve test integrity and deter cheating. We may invalidate results if integrity is compromised.
4a. Digital Goods Delivery
Test results (basic score) are provided free of charge upon test completion. Paid add-on reports are digital goods generated and delivered immediately upon purchase. Reports are delivered as stored snapshots reflecting your data at generation time; they do not update automatically. You may regenerate a report explicitly (free for subscribers when inputs change, or by re-purchase otherwise), and prior versions remain accessible. Purchasing an add-on grants you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to view the associated report or certificate; it does not confer ownership of the underlying scoring systems, algorithms, or content. EU/EEA customers: By purchasing an add-on and clicking "Buy Now" (or equivalent), you expressly consent to immediate digital-content delivery and acknowledge that you waive your 14-day right of withdrawal under EU Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(m), once the report or certificate has been generated.
4b. Verifiable Certificate
The Verifiable IQ Certificate and Verifiable Personality Certificate add-ons each include a unique URL and QR code linking to a verification page on iqcareerlab.com. The verification page displays an immutable snapshot of the certificate data at the time of issuance. For IQ certificates, this confirms the holder's score, test date, and certificate authenticity; for Personality certificates, this confirms the holder's personality archetype, OCEAN scores, and test date. Each certificate is cryptographically signed. Verification is available two ways: via the QR code / verification URL (live lookup), and by uploading the certificate PDF to the verification page, which validates the signature against our published public key. The certificate reflects results from a specific test taken on a specific date. If the purchase associated with a certificate is refunded, the certificate is revoked and the verification page will display a revocation notice.
4c. Entitlements and Access
Each paid add-on grants you permanent access to that report or certificate for the specific test result it was purchased for. "Permanent" means that the entitlement does not expire as long as your account remains active. Entitlements are tied to your account and specific test result and are not transferable to other users or other test results.
4d. No Guarantee of Employment
The Service does not guarantee any employment, interview, or hiring outcome. We have no control over employer hiring decisions and make no representations regarding the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of third-party job listings. To provide career-match features, we transmit your job preferences, location, and salary expectations to third-party job listing providers; see our Privacy Policy for a full list of processors. Career-match scores reflect estimated alignment between your profile and a role's stated requirements; they are not a guarantee of suitability and should not be the sole basis for career decisions.
4e. Academic / Admissions Report
The Academic / Admissions Report is a formal, documented cognitive assessment intended for personal academic records and for submission with scholarship applications, high-IQ society memberships, and gifted-program portfolios. Acceptance is determined solely by each receiving institution or program, which sets its own criteria. We make no representation that any school, university, or program will accept the report, and it is not a guaranteed admissions credential. It is provided as a personal credential with transparent scoring, norms, methodology, and signed verification.
5. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Interfere with the Service or its security features.
- Access, test, or use the Service through unauthorized means.
- Circumvent limits, reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse rate limits.
- Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or abusive.
- Attempt to access data belonging to other users.
- Share questions or answers from tests.
We may set, apply, and enforce reasonable rate limits, quotas, and other technical or usage limits to protect the Service, preserve test integrity, ensure fair access for all users, and prevent fraud or abuse — including limiting the rate of free test attempts and of report generation. These limits may apply to free and paid users alike; they are directed at automated, excessive, or abusive activity rather than ordinary personal use. We may also require a verified email address or additional verification before granting access to tests or paid features, and we may temporarily throttle, restrict, or suspend access where activity threatens the security, integrity, or availability of the Service.
6. Intellectual Property
- The Service, including assessments, content, software, and branding, is owned by IQ Career Lab and its licensors. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for your personal purposes, subject to these Terms.
- You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute test content or proprietary materials except as permitted by law or with our prior written consent.
7. Privacy and Data Usage
- See our Privacy Policy for details on data collection, third-party processors, and your rights. We process personal data to operate the Service, improve assessments, provide support, and deliver paid features.
- We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Where required, we rely on your consent or other lawful bases under applicable laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- We may use de-identified and aggregated data for analytics, benchmarking, and product improvement.
8. AI Assistance and Model Usage
We use AI models from multiple third-party providers, accessed through Vercel AI Gateway, to generate score analyses, career-match insights, and other content. The specific providers and models may change over time; the current set is described in our Privacy Policy. These AI-generated outputs are probabilistic estimates, not professional, medical, psychological, or career advice. AI-derived scores and narratives may differ from results produced by other assessment methodologies. Do not make major life, career, medical, or financial decisions based solely on AI-generated content from the Service. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI output, and we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on such content.
- Models and Purposes. We use AI models from a range of third-party providers, routed through Vercel AI Gateway, to assist with: (a) validating and, if warranted, overriding baseline IQ scoring; (b) generating report narratives and insights; (c) enriching job listings (e.g., de-truncating descriptions and summarizing responsibilities) and producing candidate-alignment rationales; and (d) generating personality profile narratives, career-personality matching, and Career DNA integration insights. The specific provider and model used for a given request may vary, and a request may fall back to an alternate provider for reliability.
- Personalization Consent. Your profile and preferences (e.g., skills, job types, salary preferences) are used for AI personalization only if you have granted personalization consent at /account/consent. Test data and job data may be used without this consent. If you revoke consent, we will stop using your profile for future AI runs; previously generated content may persist until reprocessed or deleted per our policies.
- Guardrails and Moderation. We apply safety checks and guardrails to AI inputs and outputs. If AI output cannot meet our safety standards after regeneration attempts, we fall back to baseline non-AI content.
- Data Handling. We persist AI outputs (e.g., score justification, report JSON, enriched job fields) with timestamps and versioning. For job enrichment, we may store a minimized text snapshot of the job page when permitted by robots.txt. We do not store prompts containing your private data beyond what is required to operate the feature, and we do not disclose your personal data to the model provider unless necessary to provide the Service.
- Third-Party Processing. Prompts and outputs may be processed by Vercel AI Gateway and one or more third-party AI model providers under their respective terms. The set of providers may change over time as we adopt or retire models; the current list is maintained in our Privacy Policy. By using AI-enhanced features, you consent to such processing.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IQ CAREER LAB AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
10. Disputes and Governing Law
- Where permitted, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis, and you waive class actions. If arbitration is not permitted by law, the exclusive venue will be your country or state of residence where consumer laws grant you such protection; otherwise, the laws of the State of California, USA (without regard to conflicts of law) will govern.
- EU/UK consumers retain mandatory rights under local law; nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
11. Chargebacks and Anti-Fraud
If you believe a charge is unauthorized or incorrect, please contact support@iqcareerlab.com before initiating a chargeback with your bank or payment provider. Charges from IQ Career Lab appear as "IQ CAREER LAB" (or "IQCL") on your billing statement. We maintain detailed records (including timestamps of Terms acceptance, purchase confirmations, digital-delivery logs, and support communications) to respond to chargeback and fraud claims. Filing a fraudulent or bad-faith chargeback may result in account suspension and pursuit of available legal remedies. Good-faith billing disputes will never result in account penalties.
12. Termination
Account deletion by you. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings or by contacting support@iqcareerlab.com. Upon deletion, your purchased digital goods (reports, certificates) and their associated data are non-recoverable. Verification URLs for any issued certificates will cease to function, unless you opt in to keep your verifiable certificates during deletion (see "Keeping verifiable certificates" below). Account deletion is permanent. Any purchased add-ons, gift code entitlements, active subscriptions, and lifetime access associated with your account will be permanently revoked upon deletion. Active subscriptions are cancelled immediately upon account deletion; no prorated refund is issued for the remaining billing period. Deleted benefits cannot be recovered, transferred, or refunded.
Account deletion grace period. When you request account deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period. During this period, login is restricted and the account is treated as pending deletion — your data remains intact but your access is suspended. You may cancel the deletion within those 30 days by contacting support@iqcareerlab.com, which fully restores your account. After the grace period expires, deletion is permanent and irreversible. If you wish to skip the grace period and delete your account immediately, contact support@iqcareerlab.com with the subject "Immediate account deletion" and we will purge your account within 72 hours.
Keeping verifiable certificates. When you delete your account, you may opt in to keep any verifiable certificates you have earned live. If you choose this option, we retain a minimal, de-identified certificate record — your name, score (or, for personality certificates, your archetype and OCEAN scores), and issue date — so the public verification URL continues to resolve. Your email address is not retained in this record; it is removed from the certificate before retention. The legal basis for this retention is your explicit opt-in consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting support@iqcareerlab.com, which permanently disables the verification URL. If you do not opt in, all verification URLs cease to function upon deletion as described above.
Termination by us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or as required by law. Upon termination for cause, access to paid features ceases immediately and no refund is due.
13. Data Retention and Deletion
- Free accounts hold test results and scores indefinitely while the account is active. Upon account deletion, we will remove or anonymize personal information and results consistent with our Privacy Policy and applicable laws. We retain purchase records, de-identified test history, AI output logs, and terms acceptance history as required for legal, accounting, and anti-fraud purposes.
- Activity log. We log key account events (sign-in, settings changes, billing actions, consent changes, and similar security-relevant actions) including a timestamp, the full IP address, and the user-agent string (stored verbatim, capped at 256 characters), for security and fraud-prevention purposes. Activity log entries are retained for a maximum of 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. You may request a copy of your activity log at any time by contacting support@iqcareerlab.com.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will prompt you to review and affirmatively accept updated Terms before you make a purchase or complete a full test. Your click or check of the acceptance box constitutes an electronic signature with the same legal effect as a handwritten signature under applicable electronic signature laws (E-SIGN Act, eIDAS Regulation). The effective date appears at the top of this page.
If you do not accept updated Terms. Continued access to the Service requires acceptance of the then-current Terms. If we prompt you to accept updated Terms and you decline, you may be unable to make new purchases, complete tests, generate or regenerate reports, or otherwise continue using the Service. This applies to all users, including monthly, annual, and lifetime subscribers and holders of lifetime access or gift codes. Declining updated Terms is your own choice to stop using the Service; it is not a suspension or termination by us. Any resulting loss of access — including access remaining under an active, prepaid, or lifetime subscription or entitlement — is not a basis for a refund, credit, or extension, and no refund arises from the non-acceptance itself. You may still cancel your subscription to stop future renewals and, where they apply, exercise the refund rights in Section 3g; nothing in this paragraph limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you under local law. Your previously generated reports and certificates remain subject to Sections 4c and 12.
15. Export Controls and Sanctions
- You agree to comply with applicable export control and sanctions laws and to not use the Service in restricted jurisdictions or for prohibited purposes.
